ACTION PERSONAL TRAINER CERTIFICATION

Important Exam Announcement

This message contains some important announcements that affect the ACT Certification program.

The ACT Certification Exam Built to NCCA Standards is now Available!

This is a major milestone for us and a necessary step toward our NCCA Accreditation. Here are the details.

  • The exam will be available at over 250 PSI/Lasergrade Testing Centers around the United States and Canada.

  • The new exam consists of 150 multiple choice questions. You will have 2.5 hours to complete the exam. You will need to achieve a score of 70% or higher to pass the exam. All questions were written and vetted according to industry best practices and built to the NCCA and AERA standards. The questions map directly back to the ACT Certification Job Survey results so we can legally defend that the exam is measuring the skills required to perform the job of a personal trainer.

  • Instructions on finding the nearest test center and registering for the exam are available under the "Get Certified" section of your portal. The testing center will charge a $60 fee to take the exam. This is paid directly to the testing center and ACT Certification does NOT receive any of these funds (we negotiated the best deal possible, over a hundred dollars less than other certs)

The ACT Certification Online Exam Will Be Retired September 30, 2011

In order to avoid confusion and direct students to the superior exam built to NCCA Accreditation Standards, the current online exam will be retired on September 30, 2011. After this date, only the new exam will be available.

Exam FAQ

How can I find a PSI/Laergrade Testing Center near me?

Instructions on finding the nearest test center and registering for the exam are available under the "Get Certified" section of your portal.

How do I register for the new exam?

Instructions on finding the nearest test center and registering for the exam are available under the "Get Certified" section of your portal.

How will I get my score report and certificate?

You will receive your score report immediately after completing the exam. This printout is your proof of passing the exam and should be saved. After 48 hours, your certificate will be available for download from the ACT Certification portal.

Which exam should I take?

We recommend taking the new exam. The two exams are very similar in nature. By taking the new exam, you eliminate the possibility of having to take another exam in the future.

I don't live in the United States or Canada. What should I do?

We recommend taking the online exam by September 30, 2011. We have made these announcements with enough notice so that all candidates who wish to take the online exam have the opportunity to take it.

I already passed the online exam, do I need to take the new exam? Am I still certified?

Your ACT Certification is still valid. You will need to take the new exam before your current certification expires. You do not need to take the new exam right away, but it will help us achieve our NCCA Accreditation quicker if you do. When you pass the new exam, your certification expiration date will be adjusted to be two years from the date of passing the exam.
